The Iron Dome is a Marvel of Engineering. |
Muslims around
the world should understand this question apart from humanitarian concerns, why
should we concern ourselves about the Israel-Palestine recent dispute? many, I
dare say, most Muslims, around the world consider support for Palestine as some
sort of religious obligation. However, The Israeli-Palestinian dispute, yet, is
a conflict between two nationalisms. It has patently nothing to do with Islam
and Judaism relations. The Majority of ultra-Orthodox Jews I had a privilege to
know altogether rejects the Zionist ideology. Moreover, we should never forget this
historic fact that even Yasser Arafat a former PLO leader appointed an
ultra-Orthodox Jew, Rabbi Moshe Hirsch, to be his minister for Jewish
affairs.
Hama's effective use of religion against Israel is
an outdated strategy. Recently the developed world has finally realized that the
dispute between Israelis and Palestinians is entangled in the complicated
history of the Middle East, yet it demands a clear and neutral political
solution. Both Israelis and Palestinians call with some right to justice for
their claims; the international world has come to this conclusion that both sides
committed tremendous injustices to each other in the name of religion or
nationalistic mantra and now the time has come for a complete closure of this
fifty-year-old tribulation.
Abraham Accord 2020 |
Calculating
self-interests, we have to take into account that amidst this recent conflict, how
the major Arab states reacted? Yes, they verbally condemned the Israeli defense
forces that targeted airstrike on Hamas’s whereabouts in Gaza, but on a practical
level, they did nothing. It has been a long time since anyone could claim that
the Palestinian issue is a central issue on OIC and Arab League agenda. The
shifting focus of the majority of Arab nations is on Iran and these countries are
sick and tired of Hamas using citizens of Gaza especially women and children of
Gaza as their protected shields. This fundamental realignment of geopolitical
priorities as expressed in the Abraham Accords of 2020, which among
other things, normalized relations between Israel and
the United Arab Emirates, Israel and Bahrain. Gaza has become a sideline issue that
cannot derail these agreements. If these were the intention of both Iran
and Hamas to somehow damage the Abraham Accord then, it was a cynical and
tragic move, which resulted in the loss of many innocent lives.
Role of Pakistan & Turkey
Likewise, both Turkey and Pakistan also should drop
down their outdated understanding of the Palestinian issue: drones and missiles
will play a bigger role in the future of wars. These two countries must not
allow emotional tirade to degrade the principle of self-defense just for the cheap
political gains. These anti-semantic talks consciously discard the number of
Israeli victims.
· How
Iron Dome Functions?
According to reports, 92% of the 4,000 rockets
Hamas fired into Israeli cities were intercepted. imagine the catastrophe Israel would have to face, had there no high-end
missiles intercepting system like Iron Dome. Since Iron Dome's introduction in
2011 and the current round of hostilities, it has become the cornerstone of the
country’s national defense. On May 12 more than 1,000 rockets launched to
target Israel. Iron Domes have intercepted more than 200 rockets The Iron Dome system is powered by anti-missile
batteries, each of which contains three main components. -Rockets and mortars
attacked nearly 45 miles from the battery. This System is very mobile and can
be moved anywhere. It functions very smoothly First, a radar unit detects an incoming
missile and sends information about its speed and trajectory to the battery
center. This is how the integrated detection and eavesdropping system works. The goal of the Iron Dome system is to protect
lives of the innocent citizens.
According to an Israeli military spokesman during
the May 12 conflict, the Iron Dome defense system has intercepted more than
2,400 missiles flying into Israeli civilian areas. Similarly, in 2012, before a
November ceasefire, the Iron Dome shot down 421 rockets fired from Gaza towards
Israeli cities.
The United
States have allocated hundreds of millions of dollars to develop this system.
Iron Dome each battery costs 50 million dollars and one interceptor Tamir Missiles costs around 80,000. Israel
has expanded the defense system by installing missile batteries and the system
in the middle is an update to combat the threat from unmanned drones. We have
to admit that Iron Dome is an impressive defense missile system that lives up
to its name.
Israel, along with the United States and
Russia is the world's leader in developing military technology. Israel had to be perfect and masters of this
field because of the constant threats surrounding them all the time from Iran and its terror
proxies for self-defense Israeli defense
forces collaborate closely with the
Americans. In contrast, India has purchasing S-400 air defense systems from
Russia for nearly $5 billion. It is not as effective as
Iron Dome, but S-400 has carter to
shooting down missiles, helicopters, and aircraft in some 400 km range. Israel
and India had a long good relationship with each other in the areas of cooperation
in missile technology, including the Baraak-8.
